My Journey with Metabolic Balance®

I have always been a firm believer in practicing what I preach and walking my talk. I feel vulnerable sharing this part of my health journey as I felt embarrassed and ashamed at gaining weight even though I am a health practitioner and eat a wholefoods diet. A pandemic, grief, stress, burning out and a pre-existing condition of PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) saw me gain more kilos than I would like to admit, and I will be the first to admit I was very frustrated with this as I was exercising when I could and eating really well.

Then came along the opportunity to become a Metabolic Balance® practitioner and I put myself through the science based personalised nutrition program as soon as I could. Not only did my knowledge as a practitioner expand greatly but so did my capability to walk my talk. There are types of foods that suit different body types and conditions better than others and this program focuses on this using the best food for you (think fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, good quality proteins and fats) to really nourish your body to help find its balance.

Overall, I have released 12kg, 7cm off my waist and 9cm off my hips. So yes, I did lose the weight I had gained, but health is not just about the weight you lose, it is really about the life you gain. I no longer feel puffy, my weight is stable rather than fluctuating, I have more energy, my skin rarely breaks out now, my PCOS symptoms have greatly improved and my menstrual cycle is a much smoother ride and more predictable, it has made recovering from illness much easier (I have a history of post viral fatigue) and most importantly I don’t get hangry anymore (much to the relief of those around me!).

Why am I sharing this? Because I am human and have very real struggles like you. I want you to feel like you aren’t alone and know that I am not on a pedestal with perfect health. While I am scared about sharing this with you, the benefit of sharing far outweighs the little voice in my head telling me to keep quiet. I have walked this journey; continue to walk it and hope this helps you to feel more empowered about seeking help with your own journey. You are not alone in this and if you would like to take charge of your health or are curious to find out more call me or book in for an appointment.
